A brand new image, from the Kelsey Grammer-led Frasier reboot hints at the psychiatrist heading back to Boston. Released by Paramount+ on social media, the photo features a plane ticket from Seattle to Boston. This led fans to wonder if the protagonist will be visiting his old friends at Cheers. The span also confirmed that production has begun on the highly anticipated series.

Given the new setting for the Kelsey Grammer-led Frasier reboot, it’s hard to imagine the doctor not returning to the famed watering hole. The first two episodes of the series will be directed by James Burrows who co-created Cheers and helmed 230 episodes. He also worked on 32 episodes of Frasier, including the pilot.

The promotional image comes days after the title of the first episode was revealed as “The Good Father.” The name is a reference to the debut episode of Frasier, “The Good Son.” The information, which teases the central relationship of the Kelsey Grammer-led Frasier reboot, was released by casting director Jeff Greenberg on Instagram, but the post was later deleted, People reports.

While most of the plot is still under wraps, Kelsey Grammer described the Frasier reboot as the character’s third act. According to Variety, the story is set in Boston with a focus on a university campus. That’s where Dr. Frasier Crane will face new challenges and relationships while fulfilling an old dream or two. The series will also star Jack Cutmore-Scott as Freddy, the protagonist’s charming son.

A nuanced combination of his father and grandfather, Freddy dropped out of college to become a fireman, JoBlo reports. But he starts to regret that decision when he finds himself without a support system. The Kelsey Grammer-led series will explore how the father and son overcome past differences, making for an entertaining Frasier reboot.

Along with Kelsey Grammer, the Frasier reboot also stars Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, his old college buddy and university professor. Toks Olagundoye appears as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university psychology department. Jess Salguerio stars as Eve, Freddy’s roommate. And Anders Keith appears as David, Frasier’s nephew and the son of Niles and Daphne.

In a 2022 interview with People, Kelsey Grammer praised the script of the Frasier reboot. At the time, he said the writers were wrapping up the final script for the first episode which looks “pretty good.” The actor said he was moved to tears after going over the story a few times. “So you know, I’m happy,” he told the publication.

After working on the show for almost seven years, Kelsey Grammer confirmed that rehearsals for the Frasier reboot begin this February. Addressing the city change, the actor said Frasier is a brave little soldier that continues in life. He is constantly finding new challenges, new love, and new people. So, a new city just fits in with stuff like that.

Dr. Frasier Crane originated on Cheers in the 1980s. The character then spun off into his own show in the 1990s. Starring Kelsey Grammer, the Frasier reboot is due to air on Paramount+ in mid-2023.
