Killed His Dad As An 8-Year-Old. About to Go Free.

A teenager, days away from his 18th birthday, will sign paperwork on Friday freeing him from intensive probation after killing his father when he was just 8-years-old. The tragic story unfolded in Flagstaff, Arizona when the then-child shot and killed his father, 29-year-old Vincent Romero, and Romero’s friend and co-worker, Timothy Romans, 39, with a .22-caliber rifle. The killer's name has been withheld in public reports due to his age at the time of the shooting. The charge for killing his father was dropped, said Apache County Attorney Michael Whiting, who prosecuted the case, because he said it was not in the boy's best interest to acknowledge what he had done. He will likely remain in a foster home past his 18th birthday and continue treatment until he is 21.
