Nico Iamaleava parents are Nicholas Iamaleava and Marleinna Iamaleava. Nico Iamaleava has seven siblings in the family.

Nico is a highly-regarded quarterback considered among the top 10 best overall prospects. He is a consensus five-star prospect and has enrolled early at the University of Tennessee, where he participates in Orange Bowl practice with the team.

According to Rivals.com, Iamaleava has been ranked as the number 2 quarterback and number 2 overall prospect. He is ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect in the class by On3.com and the No. 2 prospect in California.

Additionally, he is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect by 247Sports.com. As a senior at Warren High School, Iamaleava played a crucial role in leading his team to a 9-2 record, throwing for 1,726 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Nico also demonstrated versatility by contributing on the ground, accumulating 399 rushing yards and scoring six touchdowns. In March 2022, he committed to playing football at the University of Tennessee.

Nico Iamaleava father Nicholas Iamaleava and mother Marleinna Iamaleava are from Long Beach, California.

Marleinna is the mother of eight. In a sad turn of events, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2020. Fortunately, the cancer was found before it became too late for treatment. 

Marleinna was already in the third stage of breast cancer when she was diagnosed. And just in a few weeks, it progressed to stage four which had spread to her sternum.

In July 2020, Marleinna began preparing to be a surrogate for a Belgian family. And it was on her itinerary to go to the UK by December 2020 for an embryo transfer.

So, she frequently went to doctors, which she hadn’t done since the birth of her last child Nori, except for her biannual pap smear test. Mrs. Iamaleava’s greatest fear was being diagnosed with cervical cancer.

Her fear was wrought upon by the fact that she lost her mom to cervical cancer, and her older sister was a survivor of it.

In October 2020, it was discovered that a close friend of hers had been diagnosed with breast cancer. This news caused great sadness and concern for the friend and their family. During a subsequent visit with a doctor, she discussed the situation with their friend and requested a mammogram.

The doctor told Marleinna that she didn’t need a mammogram at this time, citing that she was under 40 years of age, and told her she was being overly cautious or paranoid.

A month later, she was involved in a serious car accident. Her vehicle collided with a stopped car in the highway’s fast lane, traveling at high speed. The impact resulted in severe trauma to her chest, which took weeks to heal. This delay in recovery also affected her planned surrogacy process.

She again requested a mammogram during a visit to the doctor, but the doctor instead performed a breast examination. The examination revealed an abnormal finding which prompted a further review. The individual underwent a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy, which ultimately led to a diagnosis.

Nicholas Sr. is an assistant coach at Warren High School. Nicholas’ old man also used to be a rugby player. And as a dad and a coach, he has said he taught his kids to play with class. He also added that he leads by example and maintains his composure whether the game ends up in a draw or defeat.

Talking about the win against Rival Downing with four touchdowns, Iamaleavva Sr said they had many preparations. He is very active in the Long Beach Volleyball community and its matches.

Nico’s Brother Madden Iamaleava

Madden Iamaleava is a quarterback from Downey who will be emerging as a coveted prospect for 2025. 

Madden attends Long Beach Poly High School in California. The young quarterback has already begun to receive offers from Arkansas State, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, and San Diego. 

Last year in July of 2022, Madden Nico, along with Iamaleava Sr, was at Amon G. Carter Stadium at the Texas Christian Stadium, attending a mega camp named DFW Showcase, which had almost four thousand campers. 

Talking to the Athletic in 2022, Madden said it was a great experience coming out to Texas, throwing in the stadium, and putting on a show for the coaches. 

Madden has big aspirations and aspires to be among the top quarterbacks in his class, along with incredible deals and visits. 

Iamaleava has complimented Madden on being ahead of his game, adding that Madden has more tricks of the trade than any of the prospects of 2025. He even said that Madden has further progressed along the game as a freshman than Nico. 

On3 has made predictions about Madden’s commitment, with their predictions titling towards Tennesse with 87.1% in its favor almost unanimously. Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh are behind with 6.9% and 5.9%, respectively. 

Madden’s On3 valuation stands at $33k, with his NIL ranking being 4230 and HS Football NIL Rank of 450. NIL stands for Name, Image, and Likeness, and it ranks the athletes on their bankability.

Nico and his family, who are from California, are of Polynesian Samoan descent. 

Samoans are the indigenous people of Samoa, an island country in the Pacific Ocean. They are Polynesian, and their traditional beliefs and practices heavily influence their culture.

Samoan is their official language, and they are deeply connected with their land, culture, and history. They are also known for their contribution to Rugby and American Football.

Nicholas has said about their heritage and culture that it keeps Nico grounded. He has further gone along to say that they, as a family, didn’t allow anybody to be bigger than the program. 

Although Nico is reaching the heights of his success, Nicholas said that he was still a kid, whether playing in the league or Tennessee. He still takes out the trash, does chores at home, and mows the lawn.
