Vickie began making cameo appearances during the fight between her husband Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio in 2005. The conflict had gotten worse after Eddie made a vow to uncover a secret involving Dominick Mysterio, Mysterio’s son. Vickie appeared on SmackDown on July 14. in order to prevent Eddie from disclosing Mysterio’s secret, along with two of Eddie’s three daughters. When Eddie lost to Mysterio at The Great American Bash, he made a commitment to keep the information a secret. However, that turned out to be another one of his character’s characteristic lies, as Eddie later admitted that Dominick was really his biological son.

Vickie eventually made a comeback at SummerSlam to persuade Eddie to end his conflict with Mysterio and abort the “Custody of Dominick” ladder match that evening. She lost the match by knocking the ladder he was standing on over just as he was about to win after that failed. Eddie Guerrero’s nephew Chavo discovered him dead in his hotel room in Minneapolis on November 13, 2005, from heart failure.

Rey Mysterio, Eddie’s friend in real life, received more screen time and bigger profile matchups as a result, including winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22 by defeating Kurt Angle and Randy Orton.
